Scandinavian Shrink Pots

Something a little different & a truly rewarding project! Scandinavian Shrink Pots have traditionally been carved across eastern Europe and Scandinavia for hundreds of years, and are called Krympburkar in Sweden. They can be used for storing all manner of things from dry food (dependent on finish), kitchen utensils to craft items, paintbrushes & pens or anything else that takes you fancy. Great little flower pots if you insert a waterproof pot or liner. Made by hollowing out a freshly harvested greenwood log, cutting a groove inside and inserting a precisely cut dry base. As the log shrinks, it will form a tight seal around the dry base, giving you a lovely pot ready for use. Participants also have the opportunity to craft a lid for their pot, and to carve a simple design of their choosing, making each pot truly a one off! A wide variety of pots also available for purchase in our shop.
